Greg Floyd, 6’9″, 200, Forward, Freshman

Antelope Valley College was contacted by the family of Greg Floyd, who is an ESPN four star high school player from Las Vegas, NV. He was ranked in his junior year as the #1 or #2 top high school player in Nevada and had scholarship offers, according to ESPN , from 25 D-1 schools including, Arizona, Cal, Washington, Seton Hall, Auburn, Tennessee, Kansas State to name a few.  Greg committed verbally as a HS junior to Long Beach State University.

Unfortunately, his senior year at Middlebrook Academy did not work out well for Floyd. He was ineligible academically to play in his HS senior year and was not deemed as eligible to accept a D-1 scholarship.

According to basketball experts, Greg’s strengths include;
Floyd has a nice rangy frame with long arms and overall good length. He has a feathery touch that extends out to 22-feet. His shot is nice and easy with an excellent release. He shows nice touch in and around the paint area and overall his hands are soft.  The following highlight video gives you some idea about the talent level of Greg Floyd.
I talked with Greg who seems to be fitting in with the AVC Basketball team very well.  I asked him why he had chosen the Antelope Valley College program and he responded, “I needed to find a place that I could get my academics together and play with and against talented players.”  “I need to prove that I deserve another chance at the top levels.”
Floyd believes that his strengths are outside shooting, passing, ball handling and being a team player.  He was quite clear that he was ready to dedicate himself to his academics and getting bigger and stronger.

I asked Greg what he thought of his AVC experience so far.  He said, “I am really loving working out with the players and the coaching staff.”  “I think AVC will really be a great fit for me.”  The coaching staff at AVC will be working with Greg to focus him on his academics, physical strength and basketball skills.

Greg looked like he has some talent on the track and has a solid mile and 400 times.  Great addition to the AVC basketball team.
