zz Alex Ledford, 6’5″, 225, Freshman

The double-double man from Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest, CA is a quiet hard working young player.  He explored a number of national JUCO scholarships and carefully evaluated other Cal JUCO’s before decided that Antelope Valley College offered him the best opportunities in the long run.

AVC is the “hard way” to go for most players as the elite program is loaded with basketball talent and its demands for academic excellence are imperative.   Players on the other hands get more university looks and competitive pressure to raise their games to levels they may not reach at less competitive JUCO’s.

Ludford is majoring in Business Administration and is looking to get a scholarship at the university level.

Alex has a nice mid-range shot and is not adverse to banging with the “bigs” for rebounds.  He will be an interesting player to watch to see how much he improves against intense competition.  Welcome to AVC.

Alex has improved in a number of key areas during the summer and early fall;  his mid-range and 3-balling shooting has improved.  It is obvious that he will continue to improve this coming year and will be an asset in the long run.

Alex will be red-shirting at AVC this year.  Expecting great things from him in the next two years.
