Monday at AVC Turns Intense

Posted: February 6, 2018 in AVC Men's Basketball

Coach Taylor had 29 basketballs waiting for the AVC team when they headed into practice yesterday.  The 29 basketballs stood for the number of turn-overs the team made against Barstow College last Saturday when AVC lost by 2 points in the last seconds of the game in an embarrassing loss.

Each player was instructed to pickup the number of basketballs that was equal  to the number of turnovers he made in that game.  The player with seven turnovers had a hard time picking up all seven basketball and going through his warm out drills without dropping them.

The AVC team practice started sloppy but it ended up intense.  AVC is still without their start point guard Julian Payton.  The team is waiting to hear the results from the MRI on Payton’s injured knee that is due out today.  Some good news, AVC’s starting center Jamar Kemp who has been  out the past several  games with a broken nose received his protective mask and looks to get some time at the post on Wednesday.

Jean PrioleauThe spring semester classes started at AVC yesterday and some interesting additions signed up for classes at  yesterday.  Add to that, Head Coach Jean Prioleau, San Jose State University,  visited Antelope Valley College yesterday.  The AVC team is very appreciative of the time Coach Prioleau spent with them.
