AVC Play Much Improved…Ready to Take on #2 East LA?

AVC(9-6) has won 5 of their last 6 games and according to head coach John Taylor, “We’re playing a lot better now than on November 19 when we lost to East L.A. 83-67 , after leading by five points at halftime.”


AVC 77, San Diego Mesa 52

SAN DIEGO – The Antelope Valley College men’s basketball team won its first game at the Cuyamaca Tournament on Thursday, beating San Diego Mesa College 77-52, with four players scoring in double figures.

Greg Floyd led the Marauders (9-6) off the bench with 19 points and 10 rebounds, D’Mauria Jones had 14 points and seven assists, Osi Nwachukwu had 12 points and five rebounds and Julian Payton finished with 12 points, seven assists and two steals.

“It was a good win for us,” AVC coach John Taylor said. “We got everybody in the game.”
AVC led by as many as 30 points, have won five of its last six games and will face East L.A. College today at 5 p.m. in the tournament semifinals.
