Signal the Light Basketball

Dates: December 28-30

Teams: Cypress (5-7), (2) East Los Angeles (9-3) , Antelope Valley (8-6), San Diego Mesa (3-10), (4) San Diego Miramar (9-2), Victor Valley (8-4) , Cerro Coso (2-6), Cuyamaca (0-11).

Antelope Valley (8-6) will take on San Diego Mesa (3-10) in first round action. The Marauders have played better of late as Antelope Valley has won four of their last five games and won third place at the Compton Tournament last week. D’Mauria Jones is putting up solid numbers and the sophomore guard is averaging 22.8 points and 5.4 rebounds this season. Osi Nwachukwu (13.7 points and 5.9 rebounds), and Greg Floyd Jr (11.3 points and 4.4 rebounds) are two other Marauders averaging in double figures this season and both players will look to have a solid game against San Diego Mesa.

The Olympians come into the game on a eight game losing streak and will look to pick up a win against Antelope Valley. San Diego Mesa picked up their last win on November 10th against Bakersfield. The Olympians are led in scoring by Morrie Neeley who is averaging 15.7 points this season. Neeley has scored in double figures in all 12 games that he has played this season. Armstrong Ojunkwu is another standout for the Olympians as the sophomore is averaging 14.9 points and 11.2 rebounds per game this season. Ojunkwu has been a force down low and is one of the best big men across the state. Joseph Davis (13.0 points and 3.4 rebounds) has played well for San Diego Mesa this season.

The winner of this match up will face the winner of Cypress and East Los Angeles on Friday.
