CSU Bakersfield Beats CSU Long Beach in Exhibition; 63-55

The NCAA has approved an extra exhibition game for the D-1 Universities to help raise money for disasters that have occurred over the summer…fires in California and hurricanes in Texas and the Southern US.

Two conferences who have been battling in recruiting for the same players, Big West and  the WAC, sent their best teams to take each other on in this exhibition last evening at Long Beach State.  Both of these teams are expected to win their conference this year and head to the NCAA tournament.

Although this is only a exhibition game, Bakersfield dominated CSULB at the LB Pyramid which is not good news for Long Beach.

Defense carried the day in a preseason exhibition for both Long Beach State and CSU Bakersfield, but the Runners would capture the win 63-55 in a charity game with proceeds benefiting the Community Foundation of Sonoma County.

Barry Ogalue led the way for the Beach with a double-double, scoring 12 point with 11 rebounds. Gabe Levin was the top scorer for LBSU with 13 points despite being limited to just 16 minutes due to foul trouble. Damiyne Durham led CSU Bakersfield with 20 points.
“This was great that everyone was able to put this together for charity, and it was also an opportunity for us, since today we would have practiced, and [instead] we got to have everyone on the same team,” said Dan Monson following the game. “It’s easy to make shots against a zone in practice, but they got humbled today, and that’s going to put everybody back to work.”
