“No Good Work Goes Unpunished”…Just Ask D’Mauria Jones

Posted: September 3, 2017 in AVC Men's Basketball

DeeLayupWhen D’Mauria Jones, 6’4″, 215 guard  arrived at AVC, the coaching staff knew he could be one of the top JUCO players in the nation.  Physical size and basketball skills on both ends of the court,  he is just a stud.  That may have been enough in high school but not in college basketball. Last year Jones started to take his academics seriously.  His grades were solid and he began to understand what it meant to play team basketball.

D’Mauria was invited to the Las Vegas Elite 80 JUCO Showcase and did not only play well but, was  named to the all-star team.  Because of his size, energy, strength and basketball skills, he was on every D-1 coaches radar who needed talent at the shooting guard or wing.

So how was Dee rewarded(punished) for all of this good work?  He was told that he was expected to be a team leader this year.  With 13 freshmen players and two transfers on the team, Dee is expected to set the example on how his young protégés should act, how to play team college basketball, how important academics are and show what energy is expected at AVC.   This may have been an expected task for for D’Mauria, but he has really stepped up to the challenge.

You can expect a big year from D’Mauria Jones this year and that will rub off on his team-mates.
