AVC for Basketball!

Summer workouts have begun at AVC and my first long vacation has just ended.  Lots of information coming in about the 2017-18 AVC team.  Track work, weight room and skill routines underway.  The biggest changes that jumped out at me this year is how last year’s freshmen have buffed up dramatically in the past year.  You can see how much work the returning team has put in on their strength program.

The goals for Antelope Valley College Basketball team;

  1. All players who are successful in making the AVC team and graduate with their AA degree receive a four year university scholarship.
  2. Goal of 2.5+ GPA for all players
  3. Win 20+ games this season.
  4. Win the conference championship.
  5. Win all five pre-season tournaments.
  6. Enter the California State tournament(elite 8 in state) for the third straight year and win it all at Ventura, California.

We are going to miss our five graduating sophomores;  three who have signed with full scholarships with four year universities, one working out with NBA teams and one who is still working with the staff looking for placement.

AVC is returning four freshmen with state tournament experience.  Three red/grey shirts who used last year effectively to improve a great deal academically, skill and strength-wise.    And finally, a group of new players who will add size, skills and academics to the team.
