Conference Champs/Seeding Playoffs?

Posted: January 18, 2017 in AVC Men's Basketball, AVC Men's BB 2016-17, conference

At this point in the season, it is all about two things for the top JUCO teams;  Winning their conference and getting the best seeding in the playoffs.  With the CCCAA voting on having eight teams going back to the state tournament this year, seeding becomes key to double the number of teams.  By the way, great move to go back to eight teams, very good decisions

Tonight’s big agenda of JUCO games may be key on both conference standings and play of seeding.

LA Valley (7-10) 3-4  @ Antelope Valley (14-6) 9-1

Looks easy doesn’t it?  My educated guess this will tough.  LA Valley is on the up swing and has won 3-4 games of their last games including a shocker over highly ranked Citrus.  AVC continues to improve as it record shows including a win over Cerritos and other good teams.  Expect a a battle.  Remember fans, AVC’s men’s games this year are the early games.  5 p.m. game time.

Here are some other important games tonight’

Fullerton verses Riverside.  Will this game tell us if Riverside can bounce back from a tough streak?

Mt. SAC verses East LA.  Bottom line.  Conference loss here for either time bad.  Does Mt. SAC have the talent level this year to handle ELA?

Cuesta verses Ventura.  Winner here big favorite for Conference Championship?

Compton verses Cerritos.  Much more than bragging rights. Key game in playoff seeding.

What the heck happened????

During the summer AVC played Merritt College who was one of the best early teams in the summer.  They have and  4-12 record and have lost 3 of the last 4.

Diablo Valley won the Chabot tournament and whipped AVC.  One of the best team performance and talent AVC has seen this year.  Since then they are 4 and 4???
