Waiting for the Click…Inconsistency Led to 5-5 Record

The Antelope Valley College’s basketball team is one of the more talented teams in the state sporting size, shooting, athleticism and defensive energy. Why is it then that they have a 5-5 record in the first 1/3 of the season?  Inconsistency.  When the shooters are hot, the Bigs are in foul trouble in the first five minutes of the game.  When Bigs are dominating, the shooters couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn.  The freshmen wings often have had to step up and carry the team on their back.  Can you imagine what this team could do if whole group played up to their potential in a complete game?

So what is the future 2/3 of the season going to look like?  If the coaching staff can get all this talent to to play consistently, its going to be a lot of fun in the next 20+ game.  That is the key.

I predict that something will “click” with the team…don’t know what that will be…but things will fall into place.  Winning basketball games is so much more fun than being losers.  The look on the AVC players faces after their loss to Fullerton in the championship game said it all.  Could it be this loss was  the “click” that will turn the consistency switch on for the Marauders?

Looking at AVC’s record, they have won 4 of the last five games including beating two teams that they lost to in their first tournament.  Good sign.  Waiting for the click.

Consistency is the key for the future.
