AVC Projected to Win the Western State East Conference.

Its very early to pick the conference champions yet but, John Bynum of Signal the Light Website has just finished the tough job for Cal JUCO.  The youthful AVC team was picked to win the the Western State East Conference this year.

“Antelope Valley is one of the best teams in our eyes across the state. The Marauders have a lot of size and plenty of depth and will be the team to beat in the new Western State East Conference.”

Antelope Valley (25-7 overall, 9-5 2nd place in Western State South Conference): Last season, Antelope Valley got off to one of the hottest starts to any team in the state. The Marauders ran off their first 14 games in the win column and held the top ranking in the Signal The Light Basketball rankings. Following that hot start, Antelope Valley finished the season 11-7 and the Marauders won five of their last six games to make sure they made it into the post season. Antelope Valley ended up as a seven seed in the post season and picked up wins over San Diego and Citrus before losing to 3rd seeded Chaffey for a trip to the Final Four. Antelope Valley will look to build off last seasons success and look to have another successful campaign this upcoming season.

Returnees: Antelope Valley will return two players off last seasons team that won 25 games. “6-0” Cory Dollarhide will return and look to stretch the floor for the Marauders. As a freshman last season, Dollarhide averaged 10.5 points and 2.6 rebounds for Antelope Valley. Dollarhide shot 42% from behind the three point line and 95% from the free throw line a year ago. “6-4” Nevell Lenard will provide experience to the Marauders as the sophomore averaged 6.8 points and 4.0 rebounds last season for Antelope Valley.

Newcomers: Antelope Valley will welcome in four transfers to give the Marauders some sophomore experience and leadership as well. “6-10” Antone Warren will give the Marauders some size and depth to their front line. “6-8” Jailen Gill will arrive from Coffeyville CC and the big is expected to be a key contributor for Antelope Valley for the upcoming season. “6-1” Charles Hall  is coming in from Los Angeles Pierce and will provide experience this season and “5-6” Reggie Byers is coming in from Highland CC and will contribute this season for the Marauders. “6-3” D’Mauria Jones (Narbonne HS), “6-2” Myles Wise (Liberty HS), “6-4” Osi Nwachukwa (San Leandro HS), “6-1” Chris Solis (Legacy HS), “6-8” William Harold (Locke HS) will all look to contribute as freshman for Antelope Valley this upcoming 2016-2017 season.
