15 Days Till Ventura Tournament…AVC verses Orange Coast

John Bynum has been putting out his projections on how each conference state-wide is going to do this year.  He does a great job of giving a early look at JUCO teams through out California.

Using John’s review of teams, lets take a look at the two teams in AVC’s side of the bracket one of which they will playing be playing in the second round of the Ventura Tournament.

Moorpark appears to be in a rebuilding year for the 2016-2017 season. Moorpark will only return one player and will have to try to find their identity on the fly. The Raiders have a lot of newcomers and lost several key pieces from a year ago. Moorpark is in rebuild mode and the Raiders will be competitive but with a freshman heavy squad it could be a down season for the Raiders.  According to last weeks review, Moorpark looks like a guard dominated team with one player at 6’5” at this point.

Riverside will be an improved team for the upcoming 2016-2017 season. The Tigers return two solid back court players and will look to find consistency and be competitive for the upcoming season. John thinks  Riverside will look to make a playoff push.

The Tigers returned four players from a year ago and will look to improve from last season. “6-2” Andy Cleaves returns after leading the Tigers in scoring as a freshman a year ago. Cleaves averaged 11.9 points and 5.0 rebounds in his first season. “6-1” Courtney Moffatt returns after a solid freshman season, Moffatt averaged 7.0 points and 3.7 assist. “6-4” Rovan Halloway and “6-9” Amore Smith both return and will provide sophomore experience for the Tigers.
