After getting its first game nerves under control, AVC rolled to a 14 point win over MiraCosta.   The freshmen laden team “got mature” and rumbled over perennial NoCal powerhouse College of the Sequoias.

Four main dominance that led to the blowout were;

  1. The intense in your face defense that led to 12 steals(AVC averaged 11 steals per game in the first two).
  2. Shooting; 60% overall, 60% from beyond the arc and 100% from the free throw line.
  3. Dominance in the paint on both ends.
  4. Depth, playing all 12 players.

Four players stood out in the game for AVC;

  1. “Ace” Warren, 6’10”, 265, Sophomore, 17 ppg, 6 rpg.
  2. “Dee” Jones, 6’4”, 190, Freshman, 11 ppg, 3 steals
  3. Cory Dollarhide, Sophomore, 5”10”,175, Freshman, 10 ppg, 4 rpg
  4. Charles “Scooter” Hall, 6’2”, 190, Sophomore, 7 ppg, 4 apg, 3 steals

AVC is now preparing to take on two tough opponents, LA Pierce who always looks at a game against AVC as a state tournament championship and,  undefeated home team Cerritos who is 6-0 this summer.
