IMG_0075Its been a long day.  Up at 4 a.m..  200 miles to Las Vegas.  Parking only 3 blocks away this year.

Quick review of the day one this year comparing it to last year.

  1. Less impressive “bigs” this year.
  2. 80 players this year more team oriented than last year but “jack up point guards” still there.
  3. No food for fans till late in afternoon.  Then only pizza.  Not good for diabetics in the crowd.
  4. Air conditioning worked!
  5. More University Coaches this year than last year.  Very impressive.  Bob Huggins from West Virginia for example.  My guess around 140?
  6. Less chairs for fans and damn were they uncomfortable.

We had to leave early to get some food so we missed the second rounds of  basketball games for the AVC sophomore six.

Lets give you a quick over view of the six AVC players.  Anton “Ace” Warren 6’10” 265 in game one put in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 1 steal;  Game two, he scored 20 points and with 3 rebounds and 1 block.  He protected the rim and changed many shots.  Impressive work as a true post.  Ran out of gas in the both second halves.  Here comes the track!

Cory Dollarhide, 5’11”, 180 hit four straight treys and ended up 15 points, 3 assists and 1 steal.  Led all scorers and solid defense.  Reggie Byers, 5’9”, 180 dominated the game at the point with his speed and court vision.  He put in 10 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds.  Missed their second game.

Keshaun Mack, 6’4”, 200 has been off the court for three weeks and it looked like it.  He put in 5 points and one steal.

Jailen Gill, 6’7”, 225 is playing with a deep bruise in his quad but in the second half of the first game really stretched it out and put 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block.  Healthy he is going to be a beast.

Charles “Scooter” Hall 6’2”, 200, led his team with his floor general-ship at the point.  He put in 6 points, 3 assists, 1 block and one charge taken.
