“Coach of the Year” Fired…One Crazy Year Painful Year for Head Coaches

Posted: May 23, 2016 in AVC Men's Basketball, AVC Men's BB 2016-17

imageAccording to John  Bynum, Cosumnes River Community College management said NO to hiring Devin Aye after less than a year at the helm and winning 17 games and the Big 8 conference championship.

After winning the Big 8 Conference championship and making a playoff appearance in his first season of coaching for Cosumnes River, Devin Aye will not return on the sidelines this upcoming season for the Hawks. Aye led the Hawks to a 17-11 record and the Big 8 championship last season but was not offered the full time position for the head coaching job. The Hawks made a playoff appearance but lost in the second round of the NorCal playoffs to Contra Costa. The Hawks won 17 games last season and spent most the season playing with seven players on their roster.

Received a note from a reader who said;

“How do you get a job right before school starts, win a conference title with only 8 players, get coach of the year, and not get rehired?!?!
I feel bad for Devin Aye… What else can he do?”
