anton warran11Many JUCO basketball teams would be stumbling along this year if they lost four key players, three with a medical injury red-shirt year.  The AVC coaching staff has had to change their planned style of basketball due to these losses.   So far, the rest of the team have stepped up and has done pretty well:  9-0 record, ranked #1 in SoCal.

With 1/3 of the season gone, it was decided by the medical, coaching and Antone “Ace” Warren that a medical red-shirt year was the best direction to take for the 6’10”, 265 post player.  With his fractured finger that required surgery, the rehabilitation to bring him back to 100% will now be able to move forward in a controlled fashion.  Other positive issues on the decision to red-shirt are;

  1. He will be able to concentrate on his academics.
  2. The time will give Warren more time in the weight room and track.
  3. He will be able to learn the AVC system even better.

Looking forward to seeing the big man next year.
